LAN Manager
Overview
Operation Gaming is seeking event managers for regional LAN venues. Qualified candidates must display exceptional communication skills, self-motivation and a willingness to perform as team player. LAN managers are the crucial “boots-on-the-ground” intelligence gatherers and event organizers. This role represents the top-level administrator at any given event. It demands considerable personal responsibility, however, it is also an immensely rewarding role within a growing company.
Duties
• Scout, visit and analyze potential locations for LAN venues
• Secure infrastructure intel, such as: Transportation to and from the event, hotel accommodations, sightseeing, etc.
• Compile, organize and submit written and/or oral reports based upon the findings of a scouting excursion
• Provide bold and frank analysis as to the suitability of a particular venue
• Follow guidelines from an event template handbook to plan event attractions
• Promote and hype pre-event coverage and marketing
• Approach potential sponsors from the local market and forward them to an Operation Gaming sales agent
• Find and recruit volunteers to handle event attractions and participant assistance
• Plot out event agenda and timeline
• Maintain on-site management, conflict resolution, and staff guidance throughout the event gameday(s)
• Oversee post-event clean up and closure
• Document post-event successes and areas in need of improvement
• Submit written and/or oral post-event reports
• Develop original concepts and ideas for future events, in addition to improving existing strategies
Requirements
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Confidence in communicating ideas to staff and 3rd parties
• Willingness to spend long hours on the phone managing logistics and contacts
• The ability to author strong, concise writing for correspondence and reports
• A flexible schedule to accommodate irregular working hours leading up to an event
• A valid driver’s license, current insurance and vehicle
